24/365 Cinnamon

I remember making a nightly bed-time mixture of milk, vanilla and cinnamon for my daughter when she was young to help her sleep, she was a terrible sleeper as a young child. It worked, she looked forward to her "night cap" and her sleeping did improve.
A quick Google search this evening reveals that there are
possible health benefits to using cinnamon, from colds to diabetes and heart disease. Now I am by no means a doctor, dietitian or scientist so don't take my word on any of this. But I am curious, what do you think...Cinnamon, ordinary spice or miracle cure?

Interesting article.
I for one believe that modern medicine wrongly and quickly dismisses alternative medicine.
I think cinnamon would be worth considering.
Most herbs and spices have subtle benefits to our health. None are a miracle cure but just the smell of cinnamon can change a persons mood for the better, don't you think?
I love cinnamon and I am going to try your night cap because I have the worst trouble sleeping so thank you for the suggestion!
I love cinnamon and it's not the first time I've heard of its health benefits but I wouldn't give it "miracle cure" status. If you enjoy it though, it sure couldn't hurt.
@greygirl25 - I found the article interesting too...
@Tabor - Absolutely agree, cinnamon sure has a pleasant aroma!
@Mindymillburn - Let me know how you make out with the nightcap, we all need a good night's sleep! :-)
@Hilary - I agree, I don't believe it's a miracle cure, but I'd never heard of the long list of medical benefits before.
Well, this looks promising. First chilli, now cinnamon.
I guess it's true, when elders say that natural is healthy.
