In the Key of Orange

I didn't notice Maddox's coat was on the table when set down my keys, but moments later that orange background just made my keys stand out.

This morning's snow gently filled this pod. If anyone knows what type of plant this is let me know, I haven't a clue!

Whirlwind Week

The second week of this new year certainly was a whirlwind of a week, seems like everyday past Monday just sped on by!

Tuesday found us waiting in the doctors office for a bit too long... I just hate how much time is spent in these rooms! While we haven't really had any snow since October, the temps dropped enough for the daughter's boots to make an appearance.

Got the Boot!
I find that I'm shooting a lot with the iPhone, love this convenient little device because it is always with me without weighing me down. Since it's also my phone, I dare not leave home without it.

Wednesday was off to a pretty bad start...

Bad Start
Daughter's car wouldn't turn over for anything... off to the mechanic we sent it! Not a horrible diagnosis, just some spark plugs needed to be replaced. Glad it happened now and not next week when she's back at school for her final semester. :-)

On a client visit I found this cute little couple just watching over things in the office

Desktop Buddies
My little friend Jeero is always looking for some "Snackers", but I think he's feeling a bit bloated from all the cookies

Lighter Snackers
Saturday afternoon Kate and I had the most delicious Peppers and Egg sandwich I've had in ages. She found an awesome recipe, I think this one is a keeper.

Lunch!
Sundays are so refreshing, a great day to relax! Hopefully the chores are done and a nice light snack of fresh apples can be enjoyed in peace and quiet.

Sliced!
And here we are, right back at Monday again... Monday morning just doesn't seem so bad when you have a friend right by your side...

And as a bonus... another black and white shot, from Saturday's lunch preparation

Today I came across Mike Peters' collection "The Dream" via Eric Kim's Street Photography blog, it was a very touching multimedia presentation of average Americans in the NY/ NJ area, the real middle-class working class that is the polar opposite of Madison Ave/Hollywood. It is definitely worth a look.

Today I jumped around in my camera's manual, but landed on page 27. I now have a better understanding of using auto-focus.

Continued the Creative Live iPhoneography class with Jack Hollingsworth today and decided to due a split between the Nikon D40 and iPhone 4S. Jack is such a champion for mobile photography it is inspiring. Admittedly, mobile photography is still in it's infancy, iPhoneography is just the beginning!

Digging In...

Day three is now just a memory... I read page 28 in the manual and finally figured out how to manually choose the focus point, guess I should have read the manual earlier! I also forgot how much I love my 35mm/1.8 lens, it is great in low light.

On a lighter note, I took the time to go see The Muppet Movie with my daughter this afternoon. We both enjoyed it, and it was so nice to hear her laughing again... just 6 days after surgery and she is well on her way to a speedy recovery!

Until next time Live, Love, Laugh!

Focus...

Getting gear ready for the challenges ahead... I'm off to a little of slow start, need to get my head back in the game.
There are many projects I'd like to accomplish this year, the Tasra365 Reinvented I mentioned yesterday, but also some others that include a twice weekly posting which starts with b&w for January and a fun little Ugly Monday Flickr group... just to keep me amused with my toy photography. Unfortunately the Uglies spent the weekend at the office so they weren't available for the kick off this week... I'm sure they'll rise to the occassion as soon as they hear about this exciting project, featuring THEM!

Until next time... Live, Love, Laugh!

A New Year...

A new year, a new beginning! It's seems I lost way in 2011, been in a bit of a slump.... so, it's time to get back on track and focus. I've decided to embark upon a journey that will challenge me to improve my photography. There is nothing unique in beginning this journey, but this time I will follow three little steps that others have done to improve their photography by 300%! Now, I'm not sure I'll get THAT good, but check it out http://tasramar.com/2012/01/reinventing-365-photography-project/

I've found many inspirational blogs over time, made some friends along the way... it's always fun to share the journey so come along, getting there is half the fun!
