I've been concentrating on using only the iPhone for shooting and editing my 365 for April. While the iPhone is a very simple camera to use, I think it offers great opportunities to expand one's creativity. There are many apps available to assist in capturing the photo that tells the story. As I experiment and explore I hope to share my findings and improve my photography skills.

The Raconteur

The Raconteur - Metuchen

Located on Main Street in Metuchen, this is a quaint little book store that not only has some rare and unique finds, but also has many events that will enlighten and amuse.

Here the mike is set up in preparation for a radio play enactment

Fun and eclectic atmosphere

There were several rare and antique typewriters found though out the store

Don't get me wrong there is plenty to explore and see right here close to home. New Jersey and New York provide for some very interesting backdrops. I just need to plan some trips and then get out and do it!

Hopefully there will be many day trips now that the cold and snow are gone... looking forward to the sharing with all my friends!

Spring is in the Air

This past week has certainly been proof that Spring is gaining ground in these parts!

Beautiful pink blossoms were found at the local supermarket, in the parking lot.

Also at the local pharmacy

And while out and about visiting my customers, there were new bunnies everywhere!

Can Easter be far behind?

Speaking of Easter, has anyone seen Hop?

Looks like it's been #1 at the box office these past two weekends, looks like a fun movie. Yes, I'm still a child deep down :-)

Easing the Boredom

Easing the Boredom

There are two items that I always have with me; my camera and SugarPup. There are times when they are all that keeps boredom at bay. So glad I had them with me today, an appointment for a checkup with a wait that was just too much to bear. I forgot my book and SugarPup is always a willing model! Problem solved.

How do you stay occupied when appointments take longer than expected?

Autumn Morning

It isn't often that I am out and about with my camera in the morning. Lately I'm just not a morning person, when and why that changed is a mystery.

This morning Hubby and I had an early appointment and I managed to get some photograph's in morning light that I seldom have the opportunity to shoot in. It's helps that we're so late in the season, and today is the last day of Daylight savings, making this light available a bit later in the morning. It was very chilly, there was definitely frost on the neighboring lawns, surely signs of things to come!

As we left our appointment, the sun was beginning it's ascent... rising, almost above the trees.

The sun rises above the trees

We stopped at our favorite local coffee shop, where we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Autumn flowers... in the early sunlight, these beautiful flowers caught my attention. Despite the time of the season beauty can still be found in gardens.

Autumn Bloom

I was very surprised to see the Butterfly Bush beginning to bloom again. The leaves were full of dew and very colorful.

As I walked up the path and on to the front steps I was reminded that the season is slowing heading forward and it's time to focus on what lies ahead.

Halloween Mat

Today I'm feeling a bit more inspired than usual, maybe it's the season... maybe it's the blogs I've reading lately, more than likely it's a combination of both! Have a great weekend!

Lake Papaiannia - The Storm

In pursuit of the photo of the day I took a quick detour on the way home this afternoon. With The Daily Shoot assignment in mind for today's shot I headed over to Lake Papaiannia Park in search of a leading trail.

As I spent a few minutes at the park I noticed a storm just rolling right in from the northwest, with quick moving clouds that were just rushing right in.

The reflection on this little lake caught my eye... and despite the impending storm the water was pretty calm.

Within feet of where I stood was the signs of warmer, brighter summer days

A lakeside table for a picnic lunch or late afternoon snack,

A bench to relax and take in the view of the lake and it's surroundings. There is a trail around the lake that is used frequently by the town residents and leashed dogs on their daily walks. Maddox has had fun walking the trail in the past, it time to take him back!

Sunday Drive: Frenchtown, NJ

New Jersey, along the Delaware River has surely captured a part of my heart. Many of my Sunday drives lead back to Hunterdon County, where life seems to be slower and the history richer.

On this particular Sunday we traveled I78 Westbound to Frenchtown,  a small borough right on the banks of the Delaware. We entered town from Route 12 at the bend of Race and Bridge Streets and we were quickly greeted with the lovely colorful shops below.

Like many of the towns in this area of the state, antiques and interior design shops line the main street

As you continue down Bridge Street you come to the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown bridge that leads to Uhlerstown, PA

You can drive or walk the bridge to cross the Delaware River

The bridge viewed from the south east

Back on Bridge Street, there are buildings that date back to the 1800's

Restaurants for every palate

Galleries

And shops that offer unique items

Not to mention the town Cycle Corner....

I just couldn't resist this tandem bike!

I started reviewing and editing this batch of photos Saturday night after seeing Eat Pray Love with my daughter. I've been wanting to see this movie for a few weeks now, just having the need to see a chic flick and try to find some deviation from the daily routine. We both enjoyed the movie finding some messages and solutions to life's little dilemmas. I found it quite ironic to discover Elizabeth Gilbert comes from Frenchtown... it's a very small world we live in!

The Butterfly Bush

On my way home this afternoon I couldn't help but notice all the butterflies circling and landing in my neighbor's front yard garden. I had heard of Butterfly Bushes, but didn't really know what they looked liked. I've been noticing quite a few butterflies on this plant... and confirmed it was indeed a Butterfly Bush.

While I was in the garden, I also managed to get up-close and personal with the Hydrangeas

Another lovely flowering vine was close by, unfortunately I know what these are called

It was a beautifully overcast afternoon, and the photo's was all in the same area. But my favorite photo for the day is one of the hydrangeas and it is on my Photo Page
