Feeling Groovy

"Slow down, you move too fast.  You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones. Looking for fun and feelin' groovy."
~ The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) Simon and Garfunkel

I know, I'm giving away my age but I couldn't resist! Saturday's trip with Hubby led us to Queensbridge Park, where the Queenboro Bridge was in full view. The weather was so gorgeous, everyone was out and about!

Touch football action on the AstroTurf had a nice crowd of spectators, and hubby was very interested!

Cycling to the park to watch the local touch team and catch up on some reading seemed to be more in line with this young fellow's day

Strolling through parks and all that fresh air made us very hungry for lunch, so we ventured off to find a place. Both of us having grown up in Queens, made this a natural choice we couldn't pass up.

Sorry folks, but they just don't make Gyro sandwiches anywhere else that compare to those in Astoria Queens!

We were greeted with the offer of  a free sample

We just headed right inside and took the plunge

SugarPup agrees, mmm-mmm, best Gyro we've had in years!

Day 81 Time's Up

81/365
Today’s Daily Shoot assignment is:
Set an alarm for a random time today. Any time. When it goes off, pick up your camera and find a photo near where you are.

I was just leaving a client and heading back to my office when the alarm went off... luckily the car wasn't moving at the time.

Spring

Yesterday Hubby had a business meeting in N.Y. and I decided to join him for the ride. It was a beautiful day; Spring arrived in all it's glory! I didn't have much time, but I did spend a few minutes in Flushing Meadow Park.

The zoo was open and the animals seemed to really enjoy the day

Remote controlled race cars were really stirring up the dust, and getting lots of attention from nearby ball players and strollers alike

Balloons were available right near the carousel ride. I love watching children as they approach the carousel, the music elicits a proud marching stance as if they were in a parade.

Flushing Meadow was the location of both the 1939 and 1964/1965 World's Fair. There are quite a few structures that remain from these event, the most famous of which is the Unisphere.

The building below is near the NY State Pavilion and it's design is quite interesting. Something about the design makes me think of the Guggenheim Museum

I don't know the name or background of the building, maybe that's a project for another day.

Near the Unisphere there are relaxing and welcoming gardens

I could just hear and see the old time band or barber shop quartet playing from the gazebo

Saturday morning means sports and soccer seemed to be the sport of the day. Walking the ball to the field

Winter Drive - Sergeantsville, NJ

Sergeantville is the home of the oldest remaining covered bridge in NJ

A two lane county road leads from the bridge directly into town

The creek and roads are quiet, and glisten in the early afternoon light.

The general store is prominently located at the one traffic light in town, from what I've read they sell excellent home made Chinese food!

Awarded by the Princeton Bicycle Club as a Friend to Cyclists, they provide food and drink to nourish participants traveling through the areas. Warm and colorful surroundings were welcome this cold day in February!
